Competition design for new sport and recreatin Center BRda in Split. Awarded 1st prize.

The project proposes a new multi-level sports and recreation complex in Split’s Brda district, featuring a dual sports hall, swimming pool, technical facilities, and a large public garage. Due to strict land-use limits, the design adopts vertical zoning, with the pool sunk one level below ground and the hall elevated above a shared public plaza that also serves as an outdoor sports area.

This compact, efficient layout creates a new urban and community hub for Split, maximizing functionality within a minimal footprint.

The structure combines a reinforced concrete grill slab supporting the hall for vibration resistance, and a lightweight steel frame with prefabricated panels. Design rationality is achieved through optimized natural lighting, minimal glazing, and cantilevered sunshades.

Technical systems are efficiently organized: air-handling units above the hall and pool ventilation and filtration below, ensuring both performance and energy efficiency.
