Competition design for new market in trogir . Awarded 3rd prize. 

 

The project envisions a comprehensive transformation of the Soline–Travarica area (4.4 ha) into a vibrant urban and natural zone reconnecting Trogir’s citizens with their waterfront. It includes a city park-forest, public garage, hotel, promenade, and market square, all designed to balance urban life and nature.

Dry-stone walls (suhozidi) play a key ecological and spatial role, protecting the soil from wind and erosion, integrating drainage, and shaping thematic Mediterranean gardens and walking paths. The design promotes sustainability, accessibility, and local identity, prioritizing public use over tourism.

The new market square functions as an open urban piazza, with clear logistics, natural light, and preserved trees defining its authentic Mediterranean character. A reorganized traffic system introduces a one-way access route and an underground garage (>400 spaces), minimizing surface parking and ensuring smooth circulation while maintaining green continuity.
